AMELIA—The Southampton Academy volleyball team defeated Amelia Academy 3-1 Wednesday to improve to 5-2 on the season.

The Lady Raiders’ sets were 26-24, 25-27, 25-12 and 25-17.

“We didn’t play our best, but a win is a win,” Coach Sarah Nixon said.

Senior Beth Waller had 17 assists and sophomore Katelyn Newsome had 15 kills.

“Senior Abbey Weist had a couple of great digs that saved us some points,” Nixon said.

SA travels to Wakefield to take on Tidewater Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 27, before returning home to face Amelia Academy on Thursday, Sept. 29. Both games are at 6 p.m.
