COURTLAND—Marisa Cabell led Southampton High School’s volleyball team to a 3-0 non-district win over Windsor on Monday with 13 kills and 4 digs.

Teammate Madeleine Kahle went 20-for-20 on serves and had 8 aces.

The Lady Indians, who are 5-0, defeated the Lady Dukes 25-21, 25-22, 25-9.

Windsor is 4-3 after losing twice to Southampton High and once to Mathews, last year’s state runner-up.

“Windsor pushed us again,” said Southampton Coach Chad Brock. “Brittany Stephens had a big game and kept them in it, digging the ball and playing some tough serves.”

“They are always a tough match and we stepped up when we needed to,” Brock continued. “They are better all the way around than they have been in the past. We knew they would have two good middles, but they are solid at all the positions.”

Stephens had 7 digs for Windsor while teammates Lauren Arrington led with 5 assists and Chelsea Norlund led in kills with 9.

For Southampton, Candace Earls led in assists with 9 followed by Grayson Drake with 6.

“I like our team this year because I am not limited in my options,” Brock said. “We have had some special players in the past and had some success, but this year we have a complete team. We don’t have to rely on one or two people to keep us in the game.”

The Windsor junior varsity squad won with scores of 26-24 and 25-22.

Southampton will travel to Northampton for a 5:30 p.m. game Thursday, Sept. 22. Windsor at 5:15 p.m. today, Sept. 20, will play at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.
