Epps throws for 106 yards, two TDs

BLACKSTONE—Isle of Wight Academy quarterback Ben Epps threw for 106 yards, including two touchdowns, during the Chargers’ 47-19 win over Virginia Commonwealth Conference foe Kenston Forest on Friday.

On the road in Blackstone, Isle of Wight also rushed for 216 yards.

“It was a good win for our guys,” said Coach Dale Chapman. “Our guys really did a good job.”

The Chargers improved their record to 2-1 and 1-0 in the VCC.

Hunter Tripplett was IWA’s leading rusher with 59 yards and an 8-yard touchdown. Charger Zeb Warnick carried the ball for 53 yards and scored two, 3-yard touchdowns.

Michael McGuire also scored two touchdowns, including one in the end-zone after recovering a Charger fumble and one a 6-yard pass from Epps. Epps threw the ball to Josh Thomas for the 2-point conversion.

Others scoring for IWA were Greg Chaffer on a 2-yard run and Matt Bratton on an 11-yard pass from Epps.
