Buehner hits two, three-run homers for Newsoms win

NEWSOMS—Ashlee Buehner hit two three-run homers to lead Newsoms to an 11-5 softball win over Courtland.
Brittany Johnson added a third home run for Newsoms.
Newsoms pitcher Kaylee Harris pitched six innings, gave up 10 hits and had four strikeouts.
Courtland pitcher Chelsea Beltrami pitched five innings, gave up 12 hits and had one strikeout.
Newsoms scored three runs in the first inning. Chelsea Pinner and De Brickhouse each hit a single. Then Buehner hit her first home run.
In the second inning, Rebecca Lewis hit a single to left field. Pinner hit a single and Brickhouse hit a double, knocking Lewis in. Buehner hit her second home run to centerfield. Katelyn Newsome hit a single and stole home, making it 8-0 in Newsoms’ favor.
In the third inning, Johnson hit her home run. Taylor Ward walked and was knocked in by Shelby Felts.
Courtland fought back in the fourth inning with a hit by Beltrami and a double by Maddie McFarland.
Brickhouse hit a single and stole home for Newsoms’ last run.
Felts received the Sportsmanship Award.
