RADFORD—Two Franklin High School athletes placed eighth in their respective events during the Virginia High School League A State Championship track meet Radford University on Friday and Saturday.

Senior Justin Grant ran the 100-meter dash in 11.14 seconds; winner, senior Joseph Betts of Lancaster ran a 10.74.

Junior Bronco Lavon Evans threw the shot put 46 feet; junior Myron Wynn from George Wythe High School won with a toss of 50 feet, 4 inches.

The 4- by 100-meter relay team of Shaquan Cook, Travis Brown, Josh Walker and Grant finished 10th out of 20-plus teams with a time of 44.65. George Wythe won with a time of 42.97.
