EXMORE—Southampton Academy’s season came to an end Tuesday in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association state softball tournament with a 10-5 loss to Broadwater Academy.

Chelsea Speight got the start for Southampton Academy. She went six innings, striking out four and giving up eight earned runs. Speight was saddled with the loss.

Taylor Bradshaw pitched one inning and recorded one strikeout.

Coach Jeb Bradshaw said the team hit well against the Lady Vikings, but just couldn’t get timely hits. He said the Lady Raiders left three runners stranded on three separate occasions during the game.

“All the girls hit well,” He said. “It was a very well played game; we just didn’t come out on top.”

SA finishes the season at 7-13 and Bradshaw said he’s excited about next year as the team only loses two seniors.
