Speight strikes out 13 batters for SA win

RICHMOND—Southampton Academy’s Chelsea Speight struck out 13 batters, walked four and gave up four hits during the Lady Raiders’ 11-1 win over Richmond Christian on Monday.

SA improved its Virginia Commonwealth Conference record to 4-7 and is 6-10 overall.

Lady Raider Beth Waller went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two stolen bases.

Kate Wachsmann went 3-for-3. Her pinch runner, Katelyn Newsome, was 3-for-3 with stolen bases.

Also for the Lady Raiders, Taylor Bradshaw hit a double, which brought home three runners.

Southampton Academy at 4:30 p.m. today, May 4, will host Brunswick Academy.
