SA wins one, loses one

COURTLAND—The Southampton Academy baseball team split two games last week with a 10-6 win over Fuqua School and a 10-2 loss to Blessed Sacrament Huguenot.

The scoring started early in the Raiders’ win over Fuqua School on April 22 as the Falcons scored three runs in the top of the first before the Raiders came back in the bottom of the frame with two runs.

The Raiders’ Matt Nixon led off with a single and scored. Carson Camp, who was hit by a pitch, also scored. Garrett Smith and Wesley Barnes followed with singles to produce the RBIs.

The Raiders continued to add runs throughout the game. Nixon scored twice, Camp scored a total of four times with one solo home run, Smith scored twice, Barnes scored once and Zach Ramsey scored on a double.

Pitcher Jacob Holland picked up the win.

In action from April 21, Blessed Sacrament scored on several base hits in the third inning before the Raiders scored one run in the bottom of the third. Barnes, who was walked, scored on a double by Matt Nixon. The Raiders did not score again until the sixth inning when Will Edwards scored on a base hit. Smith was saddled with the loss.
