Pitchers play role in TA win

DENDRON—Tidewater Academy pitchers Jimmy Rogers, Josh Clarke, Kaleb Atkins and James Price scattered two hits and allowed two runs in a 5-2 win against Surry County High School Monday.

Atkins improved to 1-0 after pitching 2 2/3 innings. Price recorded the save and had six strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. Clarke and Rogers both pitched one inning.

Jody Hanlon suffered the loss for Surry and Tim Thomas pitched two innings in relief.

Rogers performed well at the plate for TA, going 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

TA improves to 11-3 overall and 9-3 in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.

TA will host Amelia on Tuesday, May 3. The Warriors finish the regular season by traveling to Kenston Forest on Wednesday, May 4.
