Allegra Myrick Hunter

Allegra Myrick Hunter, 85, of 316 Delk Street passed away peacefully on April 21, 2011 at the Cabrini of Westchester Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, New York. A native of Franklin, VA, Allegra was born on July 4, 1925 and was the last surviving child of the late Jessie Lee and Evie Clark Myrick. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Hobson S. Hunter; one sister, Mary (Myrick) Poole, and three brothers, Jessie L. Myrick, Jr., Richard Myrick, and William Allen Myrick.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Sandra (Randall) Coppin of Yonkers, NY; one son, Shearard (Linda) Hunter of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, David (LaTara) Meyers of Silver Spring, MD; Jaron Hunter, Ashta (Todd) Fenton, and Shearard, Jr., all of Brooklyn, NY; two great-grandchildren, Jadon and Jayla of Silver Spring, MD; three sister-in-laws, Bertha Myrick and Christine Myrick, both of Franklin, VA, and Margie Hunter of Suffolk, VA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, April 30, at the First Baptist Church, Hall Street. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Vaughn’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
