Rogers pitches two-hitter for TA victory

WAKEFIELD—Tidewater Academy pitcher Jimmy Rogers gave up two hits in five innings Thursday to remain unbeaten and help lift the Warriors to a 15-5 over Brunswick Academy.

TA scored three runs in the bottom of first and five runs in the bottom of the second to take an 8-0 lead. Neither team produced any offense in the third inning, but both teams mustered three runs in the fourth.

Tidewater Academy ended the game after scoring four runs in the fifth and taking the 10-point lead.

TA’s Ferley Yerby went 2-for-2 in the game with a double, one RBI and two runs. Hunter Haywood went 1-for-3 with a double.

Tidewater Academy improves to 10-3 on the year and 9-3 in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.
