EMPORIA—Southampton senior Ronnie Powell was a triple winner during Wednesday’s Southside District track meet at Greensville High School.

Powell won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes.

The boys’ 800-meter relay team consisting of Brian Draper, Justin McHenry, Joseph Miles and Jeff Raiford also took first.

Both Southampton teams finished fourth in the meet, which included Greensville, Nottoway and Brunswick.

Also placing for the Lady Indians were Kirstyn Andrew, third in the 800-meter run, and Andrew, Jessica Heiser, Alexzandria Nichols and Megan Owen, third in the 1600-meter relay.

For the boys, Devine Finner took fourth in the 200-meter dash and fifth the long jump, Curtis Hamlin and Jarvis Tucker took third and fifth in the discus, Raiford placed fifth 1600-meter run, Ashton Holland took third in the 400-meter run and Draper placed second in the 800-meter run.
