Edwards wins 400-meter run at invitational

KING WILLIAM—Windsor’s R.J. Edwards placed first in the 400-meter run during the Bob Murray Invitational at King William High School on Saturday.
Edwards, who clocked a time of 53.24, also ran on the Dukes’ second-place, 1600-meter relay team. Edwards, Mark Fenner, Oris Bowers and Josh Edwards completed the race in 3.53:65.
Windsor boys placed seventh out of 11 teams with 49 points. Middlesex won with 123 points.
Others who placed were Bowers, fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a 17.84 and third in the 300-meter hurdles with a 46.21; Michael Vines and Josh Edwards, sixth and seventh in the 400-meter run with times of 57.87 and 58.86, respectively; Josh Edwards, fifth in the 800-meter run at 2.21.62; Jahfar Eure, BJ Wilson, Deshaun Branch and Michael Jackson, seventh in the 400 relay at 47.75; Tony Walton, fourth in shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 11 inches; and Justin Daniels, eighth in the discus with a toss of 96 feet, 5.25 inches.
Two Lady Dukes placed in two events.
Jordan Jones took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet 2½ inches and third in the triple jump with a leap of 30 feet, 9½ inches.
Mary Alice Blythe placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in 19:88 and fifth in triple with a leap of 27 feet, 3½ inches.
Leah Dreps took seventh in the discus with a throw of 68 feet, 6½ inches.
The Windsor girls placed sixth out of 11 teams with 29 points. King George won with 189.
