Spalding goes 3-for-4 for Southampton win

COURTLAND— Hayden Spalding went 3-for-4, including a triple and two RBIs, to lead Southampton High School to a 14-3 win over Sussex on Monday in Courtland.
Winning pitcher Josh Riddick gave up four hits, while the Indians had 10 hits.
Other standouts for Southampton were Jake Pope, 2-for-3 with two stolen bases; Brian Marks, 1-for-3 with two RBIs; Tonee Hill, 2-for-2 with a double; and Mason Wright, 1-for-2 with a double.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of third when the Indians scored five runs on four hits, two walks and two errors.
Southampton gave up two runs in the top of the fourth on two hits and an error.
The Indians took control of the game in the bottom of the fourth when they scored nine runs on five hits, including a double and a triple, while taking advantage of three Sussex
errors.
The Tigers pushed one run across in the top of the fifth when they took advantage of two errors by the Indians. They added one hit in the inning.
