Windsor defeats SHS 6-5

COURTLAND—Windsor defeated Southampton High School 6-5 in a non-district baseball game in Courtland on Friday.

The loss was Southampton’s third of the week.

Winning pitcher Gavin Horton gave up six hits. Losing pitcher Tonee Hill gave up nine hits.

Windsor scored four runs off four hits and two walks in the third inning.

The Indians tied the game after scoring two in each of the

fourth and fifth innings.

Austin Winkles came up big in the sixth for the Dukes as he drove in a run with a triple and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Ernie Jump.

The Indians’ rally in the bottom of the seventh came up short as they grounded out to end the game with a runner

on first.

In action from Thursday, Southampton fell 5-2 on the road to Park View in a heated Southside District contest.

The winning pitcher was C. Pennell. Indian Zach Vann was tagged with the loss. Both are 1-1.

Park View had 10 hits and no errors to Southampton’s five hits and one error.

The Dragons struck early as the leadoff batter hit a ground-rule double and scored on a single to right field. Later that inning, a Park View double drove in the second run to give the Dragons a two-run lead.

Park View scored another run in the second inning on a single and double.

The Dragons scored in the fourth after the first two batters drew walks and came home.

The Indians scored one run in the third off a Billy

Nixon double to right field. They also scored in the top of the seventh as Jake Pope hit a solo home run.
