SA gets first conference win

FARMVILLE—Southampton Academy’s softball team picked up its first Virginia Commonwealth Conference win, beating Fuqua School 18-4 on Friday.
Winning pitcher Chelsea Speight gave up two hits and had six strikeouts and one earned run.
On offense, Kate Wachsmann led with four hits. Taylor Bradshaw had three hits, including two triples and two RBIs; Skylar Goodman added three RBIs. Speight added three hits and five RBIs. Rachel Holland hit a triple and got two RBIs and Beth Waller made two hits, including a double, and picked up a RBI.
The Lady Raiders are 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.
Southampton Academy will host Greenbrier Christian at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 12.
