Warriors beat Southampton Academy in shutout

The Tidewater Academy baseball team shut out Southampton Academy 10-0 Thursday.
Jimmy Rogers pitched well for the Warriors. In six shutout innings he had seven strikeouts and allowed only three hits.
Tidewater Academy’s Wade Parham went 2-for-4 on the day with an RBI. The Warriors’ Martin Hellyer had two hits out of three at-bats, scored three runs and had three RBIs. Ferley Yerby went 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs.
The win improves Tidewater Academy’s record to 8-1 and 7-1 in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference. The loss drops Southampton Academy to 5-4 and 4-4 in the VCC.
