Southampton Storm 12U wins tournament

CHESTER—The Southampton Storm 12U Team took the title during a Softball Nation sanctioned tournament in Chester on March 12.

The team and coaches Steph Wood, Ronnie Vincent and Angie Lassiter will travel to Henderson, N.C., to compete in a NCUSFA tournament this weekend.

Southampton Storm 14U team members are, from left in front, Launya Michie, Jessie Fortner, Haley Boykin, Shelby Billups, Lacoura Ellis, August Ringer and Katelynn Cobb; middle, Mike Gizara, Sierra Johnson, Bailey Griffin, Skyler Bagnall, Sami Gizara and Brittany Cobb; and in back, Cynthia Cobb, Clif Johnson, Sean Wade.

The Southampton Storm 14U team placed second in its division in the tournament. The team will be competing in a Softball Nation tournament this weekend in Virginia Beach. Sean Wade, Kyle Boykin, Cynthia Cobb and Mike Gizara are coaches.

Southampton Storm is a first-year travel organization based out of Southampton County. The Storm is looking for players and coaches for a 16U Showcase Team.

The Storm is a part of the competitive teams’ division of The Stronger Woman, a non-profit organization founded by Wood in 2009. The group’s mission is to inspire females of all ages to develop permanent mental, emotional, physical and spiritual strength through athletic competition and camps as well as motivational speaking and mentoring programs.
