ELEMENTARY LEAGUE
In the final regular season game on March 2, the top-seeded Terps (10-0) edged the fourth-seeded Wolverines((3-7) 16-15. Carlos Whitehead had 8 points to lead the Terps followed by Ja’maya Hunt with 4 points, and Miari Reid and Deunte Jefferson added 2 each. Drelyn Ford of the Woverines led all scorers with 11 points, and Monte Barrett and Tsuhiye Barnes had 2 points each.
The second-seeded Tar Heels (8-2) beat the third-seeded Rams (5-4) 12-6 with Edward Bynum scoring 6 points followed by Ricky Evans with 4 points, and Shantrell McNear adding 2 points. Dale Vick had 2 points for the Rams, and Rickia Sykes and Tawrence Wiggins added 1 point each.
The firth-seeded Blue Devils(2-8) knocked off the sixth-seeded Spartans(1-9) 15-10. Scoring for the Blue Devils were Kobe Lawson and DeMonte Williams with 4 points each, Kevin Wilson with 3, Demonte Williams with 2, and Derick Bynum and Kamon Walton added 1 point each. Myron Barrett and Markeen Tyler had 4 points each, and Jomari Whitehead added 1 point for the Spartans.
The Post-Season Tournament began Tuesday with the Wolverines versus the Blue Devils and the Rams versus the Spartans. No results were available as of press time. At 6 p.m. today, March 9, the Terps will play the winner of the Wolverines/Blue Devils game and at 6:45 p.m. the Tar Heels will play the winner of the Rams/Spartans game.
The Championship game will be played at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Armory.
JUNIOR HIGH LEAGUE
In the Junior High League Post Season Tournament on March 3, the top-seeded Wolfpack beat the fourth-seeded Tigers 23-15.
Quiyshawh Jefferson and Brandon Palmer led the Wolfpack with 6 points each followed by Jaquan Myrick with 4 points, and Drelyn Ford, Lynn and Jaylen Lawson adding 2 points apiece. Markeen Tyler and Ja’vae Rooks led the Tigers with 6 points each, Rayquan Walton had 2 points, and Edward Bynum added 1 point.
The second-seeded Blue Devils beat the third-seeded Hurricanes 28-20 with Dedrick Boone scoring 9 points, followed by Darius Bell and Quran Newsome with 6 points, Michael Tyler with 4 points and Ty’dre Barnes with 3 points. The Hurricanes Masco Barrett led all scorers with 11 points, with Larry Blow scoring 4 points, DaQuan Fraxier with 3 points and Jawan Walton with 2 points.
The Championship game will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Armory.
HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE
In the opening round of High School League Post Season Tournament, the fourth-seeded Celtics (1-7) upset the top-seeded Pacers(6-3) 42-35 in overtime. With the score tied at 35-35 at the end of regulation, the Celtics outscored the Pacers 7-0 in overtime.
Raymond Hunt led the Celtics with 14 points, including 5 in overtime, followed by Craig Teachy with 9 points.
Shay-Ron Everett had 16 points to lead the Pacers followed by Martinez Hill with 8 points.
The second-seeded Thunder (4-5) edged the third-seeded Bulls(4-5) 51-49 in another overtime game. The Thunder were led by Tyshawn Lowe with 21 points and Quantrell Long with 13 points.
Eugene Phillips had 17 points to lead the Bulls followed by Tre Holland with 14 points.
MEN’S ADULT LEAGUE
On March 2, second-seeded LDB Crew (7-3) edged fifth-seeded Blackout (3-7) 57-74 with Kenny Kindred and Lee Urquhart scoring 13 points and 10 points. Tony Stokes led Blackout with 20 points, followed by Bruce Grant with 18 points and Swedell Stephens with 10 points.
On Thursday, top-seeded NC Fire (8-2) forfeited for lack of players to the third-seeded Rockets.
The fourth seeded Wildcats (4-6) knocked of the sixth-seeded Walton (0-10) 77-65 with Valdez Artis leading with 22 points. Also scoring in double figures were Jamal Jordan with 13 points, Pete Twisdale with 12 points and Charles Turner with 10 points.
The Post Season Tournament begins at 8 p.m. today, March 9, with the fourth-seeded Wildcats vs. the fifth-seeded Blackout. At 9 p.m., the third-seeded Rockets will play sixth -seeded Walton. On Thursday, March 10, at 7:45 p.m., the top seeded NC Fire will play the winner of the Wildcats/Blackout game and at 8:45, second-seeded LDB Crew with play the winner of the Rockets/Walton game. The Championship game will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16.
