CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The Chowan University Lady Hawks defeated Livingston 56-53 in the opening round of the 66th annual CIAA basketball tournament at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.

The Lady Hawks came back to take the game from Lady Blue Bears after being down by 19 points.

In Tuesday’s second-round match against Johnson C. Smith, the Lady Hawks were down 13-0 at 15:12 in the first half. Chowan’s first points came at 14:54.

The Lady Hawks tried, but couldn’t catch up. The closest they got to the Golden Bulls during the second half was within 14 points.

The final score was 71-52.

Chowan’s Ransheda Jennings scored 17 points and Daniell Coleman added 10.
