IWA wins in double overtime

EXMORE— Isle of Wight Academy escaped from Broadwater Academy with a 71-67 double overtime win on Friday night.
IWA’s Nathan Sivertson and Michael McGuire both hit field goals in the final overtime and teammate Evan Chappell went 2-for-2 from the foul line as the Chargers surged past the Vikings, who led 45-36 after three quarters.
The Chargers caught up with 4:04 left in the game when Sivertson’s field goal tied it at 50. IWA’s Brandon Privette scored consecutive baskets late in the quarter to tie the score at 58.
Josh Thomas hit a jumper in the first overtime, and Sivertson scored, was fouled and made the foul shot to keep pace with Broadwater. The two teams were tied at 64 going to the second overtime.
IWA is 16-5, 9-3 in the Metro Conference. Broadwater is 4-12, 2-9.
