CHARLES CITY—Windsor girls got their first Tri-Rivers District win in four years and the second win of the season after defeating Charles City 49-47 on Friday night.

“The girls came into the game ready to play,” said Lady Dukes Coach Holly Andreski. “All players contributed, and it was a total team effort. I am very proud of the girls for playing with teamwork and intensity the entire game.”

The Lady Dukes made a combined 55 rebounds and were 13-for-24 from the free-throw line.

Windsor was led in scoring by Whitney Searcy with 19 points, including going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Leah Dreps led with 10 rebounds, while Macayla Servais added 9, and Searcy and Maurica Bynum nabbed 8 each. Bynum also went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line.

Charles City led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter and the Lady Dukes led 25-21 at the half. Windsor held onto to 37-35 lead at the end of the third.

“Windsor came out scoring first,” Andreski said. “We took the lead the second quarter and maintained the lead the entire game. Courtney McCaskey’s and Tommie Curtis’ tight defense helped to contain Charles City from scoring.”

The Lady Dukes will host Sussex at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1.
