Rams, Terps, Tar Heels pull out wins in rec play

ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL

On Jan. 12, the Rams, Terps and Tar Heels were winners in the third week of the Franklin Parks and Recreation season.

The Rams (2-1) defeated Wolverines (1-2) 5-3 with Tawrence and Lawrence Wiggins scoring 2 points each, and Dale Vick adding 1 point. Drelyn Ford scored all 3 points for the Wolverines.

The Terps are 3-0 after downing the Spartans (1-2) 17-3. Ja’maya Hunt led the Wolves with 8 points, followed by Shaman Wilkerson with 4 points, Dezeion Stith with 3 points and De’mar Handshaw with 2 points. Markeen Tyler scored 2 points for the Spartans and Timea Dawson added 1 point.

The Tar Heels (2-1) beat the Blue Devils (0-3) 15-6. They were led the Edward Bynum’s 13 points. Ricky Evans added 2 points. Kevin Wilson and Kobe Lawson had 3 points each for the Blue Devils.

JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL

The Wolfpack and the Tigers were winners on Jan. 13. The Tigers (2-1) edged the Hurricanes (0-3) 22-21 led by Rayquan Walton and Ja’maya Hunt with 8 and 6 points, respectively. Masco Barrett led the Hurricanes with 11 points, followed by Larry Blow with 6.

The Wolfpack (2-1) beat the Blue Devils (2-1) 24-15 with Jaquan Myrick scoring 13 points. Michael Tyler led the Blue Devils with 8 points.

HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Bulls and the Pacers were winners on Jan. 10.

The Bulls (2-1) edged the Celtics (0-3) 32-31 with Jarshad Clark leading the way with 12 points. Also adding to the win were Sharod Woodley with 9 points. Josh Waljer led the Celtics with 13 points followed by Craig Teachy with 9 points.

The Pacer(2-1) downed the Thunder (2-1) 34-27 led by Shay-ron Everett’s 20 points. Tyshwan Lowe led the Thunder with 15 points.

MENS BASKETBALL

LDB Crew (3-0) on Jan. 12 beat Walton 74-50 to remain in a two-way tie for first place. James Holemon led the Crew with 17 points, and Jerrell Britt scored 15 points. Mario Hunter led Walton with 17 points and Andre House added 13 points.

The NC Fire (3-0) stayed in a first-place tie by beating the Wildcats (0-3) 67-57 on Jan. 13. Termaine Totten led the Fire with 24 points and Ronte Freeman added 11. Valdez Artis had 20 points to lead the Wildcats, followed by Charles Turner with 12 and Joemon Artis with 11.

The Rockets (2-1) beat Blackout (0-3) 64-50 with Jaleel Nelson scoring 15 points and Glen Hart and Maurice Whitehead scoring 13 and 12, respectively. Larry Person had 15 points to lead Blackout.
