IWA wins in fourth quarter on foul shots

NEWPORT NEWS—Isle of Wight Academy broke open a close game in the fourth quarter to put away Denbigh Baptist 71-54 Thursday night.
The Chargers are 14-2 and 8-0 in the Metro Conference.
The Chargers led by 19 at halftime and by as many as 20 points, but Denbigh closed the lead to 7, 53-46, on a Jon Haggerty field goal with 5:20 remaining. IWA outscored the home team 20-15 in that quarter on the strength of 12-of-14 foul shooting.
Sophomore center Nathan Sivertson had a career game, finishing with 28 points; 11 of those in the final period, including14-of-16 from the line for the game. IWA Senior Brandon Privette had 12 points, including two early three-pointers in a 27-7 first quarter.
The Chargers will play Williamsburg Christian Tuesday in Williamsburg.
