Windsor girls fall to Surry

WINDSOR—Surry girls ran their record to 4-3 overall with a 75-33 Tri-Rivers District win against Windsor Friday.

With the loss, the Lady Dukes fell to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the district.

The Lady Dukes took an early 11-5 lead before the Lady Cougars took a timeout with four minutes left in the first quarter. Surry went on a 34-0 run for the next 10 minutes to take a 39-11 lead.

The Lady Cougars led 19-11 after the first quarter and outscored Windsor 26-7 in the second quarter for a 45-18 halftime lead.

The Lady Dukes were outscored 15-5 in the third quarter and 15-10 in the fourth quarter.

Windsor shot 61 percent from the charity stripe while Surry shot 46 percent. The Lady Cougars had 31 points off the bench while the Lady Dukes had 8.

Leah Drips led Windsor with 10 rebounds and MaCayla Servais finished with 7 points.

B. Johnson led Surry with 22 points. D. Rilley finished with 9 points.

The Surry JV team won 40-28.

Windsor will travel to Petersburg on Friday, Jan. 21, to play Appomattox Regional Governor’s School. The varsity girls’ game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity boys will follow.
