Horton, Edwards contribute to Windsor’s 66-51 win

WINDSOR—Windsor High School forward Gavin Horton scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and teammate R.J. Edwards added 4 assists to break open Thursday’s game against Greenbriar Christian, leading to a Dukes’ 66-51 win.

Windsor Coach Chris Smith called the victory a “good home win for our emerging program.”

“The team came out ready to play tonight and executed our game plan,” Smith said. “Our defense was good tonight, and helped our offense to get going. It was another good team win for us.”

Windsor took a 13-7 first-quarter lead and expanded that lead to 28-19 at the half. Greenbriar outscored the Dukes 16-14 in the third quarter, making the score 42-35 at the end of the third in Windsor’s favor.

Horton scored a game-high 21 points. Center Tony Walton added 14, led in rebounds with 16 and made 6 blocks. Edwards led in assists with 7; he also scored 10 points and 2 rebounds.

Windsor is 2-1 overall and 0-0 in the Tri-Rivers District. The Dukes will travel to Courtland Monday for a 7 p.m. game against Southampton High School.
