ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight Academy senior Brandon Privette’s field goal with 1.9 seconds left in the game turned into a 54-52 Charger win over StoneBridge on Tuesday night.

“He played extremely well down the stretch for us and hit the big shot that won the game,” said IWA Coach Benjamin Vaughan.

Privette finished the game with a game-high 23 points, including four, three-point field goals. He scored 9 of his team’s 14 fourth-quarter points. Privette’s fourth-quarter three also was key; it put IWA up 52-50 with 2:03 left to play.

Charger Nathan Sivertson added 15 points.

Vaughan is pleased with the Metro Conference victory over StoneBridge and his team’s 3-0 overall and 2-0 conference record.

“We have a young team this year that has shown steady improvement from game to game,” he said.

IWA on Friday, Dec. 10, and Saturday, Dec. 11, will play in the Fauquier Times Democrat Life and Breath Foundation Tip-Off Showcase at Wakefield High School in Plains.
