McHenry leads Indians in two cross country races

POWHATAN—Southampton High School’s boys cross country team placed third during a Wednesday meet at Powhatan.

Indian Justin McHenry completed the course in 20:12 for a 10th place overall finish. Also for the Indians, Bryan Draper placed 16th with a run of 21:11; Jeffrey Raiford 18th in 21:30, Jeffrey Vincent 19th in 21:45, Luckett Allen 21st in 21:57, and Joe Miles 22nd in 21:58.

The Lady Indians placed fourth overall. Kirstyn Andrew led with a ninth-place finish in 26:51 followed by Emily Fuller 11th in 27:19, Allie Best 20th, Megan Owens 22nd and Brooke Bryant 26th. No times were submitted for the last three finishers.

In action from Monday, Southampton boys placed fourth during a meet at Nottoway.

McHenry finished fourth overall with a time of 20:16, Draper was 15th with a 21:50 and Vincent was 19th with a 22:52. For the girls, Fuller finished 12th with a run of 29:27, and Andrew was 13th with a time of 29:58.
