Nicole Evelyn Esser and Grady Bryant Eason married at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, in the Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chesapeake.

The Rev. James Borgwardt of Savannah officiated the double-ring ceremony.

After the service, a reception was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Suffolk.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Esser Jr. of The Woodlands, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Esser Sr. of Brown Deer, Wis.; Beverly Henn and Dick Kunkel of Colgate, Wis.; and William Henn of Milwaukee.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Eason of Courtland. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bryant of Courtland, Myrtle Eason of Suffolk and the late James Lee Eason.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white lace, modified mermaid dress with all-over beading along with a cathedral-length veil with blusher. The bride also wore cobalt blue sling back sandals as her “something blue.”

The bride carried a bouquet of sunflowers and seeded eucalyptus wrapped in white satin ribbon with cobalt blue braiding.

Bridesmaids wore cobalt blue, satin tea-length dresses in their choice of styles.

Bridesmaids carried bouquets of sunflowers wrapped in cobalt blue satin ribbon.

The bride’s sister, Amy Jo Esser of The Woodlands, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Anna Hatter of Alexandria, friend of the bride; Laura Duck of Gatesville, N.C., cousin of the groom; and Brittany Kirmes of Chesapeake, friend of the bride.

Groomsmen wore black tuxedos with cobalt blue vests.

H. G. Eason served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen and ushers were Taylor Sill of Arlington, Adam Hines of Jonesville and Brian Fanney of Gaithersburg, Md., all friends of the groom; Adam Turner of Franklin, cousin of the groom; and Jake Scaduto of Hubertus, Wis., cousin of the bride.

The flower girl and ring bearer were Darby and Liam Henn, respectively, cousins of the bride and the children of Steve and Diane Henn of Sunningdale, Berkshire, United Kingdom.

Toni Sheppard, friend of the bride, was the wedding coordinator.

Wedding music was provided by organist Fred Johnson.

A three-tier chocolate cake decorated in a white-on-white pattern decorated with a vintage cake topper was served.

A cowboy cookie groom’s cake was made by the bride, Laurie Esser and Amy Esser as a surprise for him.

A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s parents was held at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chesapeake.

The photographer was Anna Driver-Bishop of Savannah.

The new Mrs. Eason is a docent at Historic St. Luke’s Church in Smithfield and a photographer.

Her husband is a surgical instrument repair technician for CareFusion.

The newlyweds went to Ashville, N.C., for their honeymoon.

They will reside in Carrollton.

A bridal shower was given in Wisconsin by the bride’s family.

A surprise bridal shower was given by Amy Esser and Anna Hatter at Historic St. Luke’s Church in Smithfield.

A couples’ shower was given by South Quay Baptist Church in Suffolk.
