Maxey, Bogese lead Southampton Academy to 42-13 win

Southampton Academy’s Rashodd Maxey led the Raiders to a 42-13 win over Broadwater Academy, rushing for 111 yards on 10 carries and scoring two touchdowns.
Teammate David Bogese scored three touchdowns on nine carries for 52 yards.
Saturday’s victory gives the Raiders a 2-0 record, while the Vikings dropped to 0-2.
“Overall we’re still working to get to where we want to get offensively,” Southampton Academy Coach Dale Marks said about the team’s efforts. “Defensively we played pretty well. Our first team defense gave up one long run; we had a couple of missed tackles on that run.”
Other highlights for Southampton Academy included 56 yards rushing on nine carries by Devon Reyes. Quarterback Wesley Barnes led the passing attack, going 2-for-2 for 56 yards. Maxey finished completed one of four passes for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Carson Camp led the receiving attack with one catch for 50 yards.
The Raiders rushed for 247 yards and threw for 73 yards, while the Vikings rushed for 166 yards and threw for 45. The Raiders finished with 320 yards of offense while the Vikings finished with 211. The Raiders had one turnover to the Vikings’ five.
The Raiders opened scoring with 8:14 left in the first quarter on a 2-yard run by Bogese. Maxey’s 2-point conversion made it 8-0.
The Raiders’ next score came with 5:51 left in the second quarter on a 17-yard pass from Maxey to Blake Drewry. Bogese scored the 2-point conversion, giving the Raiders a 16-0 lead.
Bogese scored on a 3-yard run with 4:55 left in the second quarter. The kick by Maxey was no good.
The Raiders then scored on a 14-yard run by Bogese with 2:03 left in the second quarter. Maxey’s kick made it 29-0.
Maxey followed with a touchdown on a 4-yard run. His kick failed.
The Vikings’ Noah Zember scored on 60-yard run. The kick by Jacob Bowen made it 35-7.
The Raiders then scored on a 31-yard touchdown run by Maxey. Maxey’s kick was good.
The Vikings then made it 42-13 on a 4-yard touchdown run by Zember. The kick by Bowen was no good.
The Raiders will travel to Blackstone Friday to take on Kenston Forest School Kavaliers at 7:30 p.m.
