FRANKLIN — Kathy Pope Darden, 63, passed away on Aug. 27, 2020.
She was a native of Southampton County, and was predeceased by her father Junius “Kingfish” Pope and her brother, David Earl Pope.
Kathy was a former Southampton Memorial Hospice volunteer, and an avid knitter of socks, beanies, baby blankets for newborns and stocking caps for cancer patients and a collector of sea glass.
She was a part-time employee of Knitting Addiction in Nags Head, North Carolina.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Hunter Darden III; three sons, John Casey Mulder (Patty), Jerimy William Mulder (Kristen) and Hunt Darden IV (Christii); her mother, Charlotte Williams Rasnake; her sister, Robin P. Powell (Edwin); her brother, Dale Henry Pope (Debbie); her sister-in-law, Sherry Pope; five grandchildren, James, Cody, Sidney, Makinleigh and Christopher; father and mother-in-law, Hunter Darden Jr. and Jean H. Darden; sister-in-law, Sharon D. Kasper; brother-in-law, Ricky Darden (Cindy); and a special friend, Elizabeth Del Vecchio and her two children, Joe and Dominic.
A funeral will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with Pastor Randy Wright officiating.
A viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Sycamore Baptist Church or Harvest Christian Fellowship.
