SUFFOLK – Aldine Blythe Duck, 94, of Old South Quay Road in Suffolk, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Aldine was a native of Southampton County, the daughter of Jesse and Iola Blythe. She was a member of South Quay Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural route carrier in Suffolk.

ower arrangements. Known affectionately as “Ma” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she always kept oatmeal cream pies on hand for their visits. Aldine had several close friends that she enjoyed spending time with – breakfasts at Hardee’s, traveling, listening to music and shopping at yard sales on Saturday mornings were some of the things she enjoyed the most.

Aldine was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Bennie Duck. Her survivors include two sons, David L. Duck and wife, Deborah, of Gatesville, North Carolina and Glenn A Duck and his wife, Allison of Suffolk; five grandchildren: Amanda Turner (Adam), Laura Jenkins (Joshua), Megan Duck (Kendal), Lindsey Darden (Ryan), and Ben Duck; four great-grandchildren, Shelby and Beau Turner and Wyatt and Ruby Jenkins. In addition to her immediate family, she was also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and very dear friends.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, at 3 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and suggest, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to South Quay Baptist Church. Burial will be held immediately following the service at Southampton Memorial Park.
