Southampton Social Services plans another drive of handmade hats and scarves for distribution during the winter months.

Jean Blackburn of the department said, “We will accept donations of yarn from through October. You may also make monetary contributions to purchase yarn. We will be partnering again with The Unified Incarcerated Veterans Organization VVA (Vietnam Veterans of America) Chapter 1120, located at Deerfield Correctional Center to execute this project.”

Further, she asked, “Help us provide warmth again to those in need in our community by providing yarn. Donations can be dropped off at Southampton Social Services. We will then get the yarn to the incarcerated veterans who are working on the project. Last year we received a total of 878 handmade hats, scarves, and gloves. Let’s help the group by providing yarn enough to make 900 items this year.”
