WINDSOR – Claude Thurman “Tom” Parker, 88, passed away Jan. 6, 2023 in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late Claude Thomas Parker and Florine Adell Rhodes Parker. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Franklin Gilmer Parker and George Thomas Parker.

Tom was a graduate of Windsor High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Union Camp Corporation retiring with 38 years of service. He was a member of Woodman of the World and Purdie Masonic Lodge No. 170 AF&AM. Tom was a lifelong member of Colosse Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Josie Joyner Parker; his daughter, Jeannette P. Fritts ; two sons, Jeffrey W. Parker (Pam) and Joseph C. Parker (Gwen); four grandchildren, Matthew T. Fritts, Paige E. Fritts, Jerry W. Chapman (Chelsea) and Aaron M. Warner and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 in Colosse Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Webb officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 in Wright Funeral Home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Colosse Baptist Church Building Fund or the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Rd, Richmond, VA 23223.
