FRANKLIN – Mary Emily Davis Johnson, 94, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Born in Selma, North Carolina, and a former resident of Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Freddie Davis and Charity Elizabeth Taylor “Chat” Davis.

Mary was the former owner of Johnson’s Seafood Grill and Crabhouse in Portsmouth. She was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Dorothy Moore of Courtland and Lorraine Starling of Franklin; a son, Samuel R. Johnson of Kinston, North Carolina; a brother, Ralph Davis of Chesapeake; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22 in Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth with Pastor Randall Wright officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Harvest Christian Fellowship.
