Southampton, IW roads report high water
BRANCHVILLE
A number of roads are impassable this morning due to high water from heavy rain.
In Southampton County, areas of Vicks Millpond Road near Branchville and Three Creeks Road near Capron have flooded and a segment of Tucker Swamp Road near Zuni is closed due to a downed tree.
In southern and central Isle of Wight County, officials are warning that areas of U.S. Route 460, Walters Highway and Carrsville Highway are reporting high water. Parts of Racetrack Road and Ecella Road have closed due to flooding, but Buckhorn Road near Windsor remains passable with care according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Western Tidewater region until noon. Four to six inches of rain has fallen from the remnants of Hurricane Sally as the storm merged with a slow-moving frontal boundary.
