Southampton County Sheriff’s Office noted at 2:35 p.m. that an “all clear” had been issued and the lockdown at Southampton Middle School had been lifted.
SCSO Maj. Camden Cobb confirmed earlier in the afternoon that a lockdown had occurred at the school after a single, unused bullet had been found by a staff member in a common area of the school. It was not found in the possession of a student.
Agencies that arrived on scene and provided assistance during the lockdown included SCSO, Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office, Suffolk Fire and Rescue and the Virginia State Police.
