The Town of Windsor’s police department observed its fourth annual National Night Out on Tuesday. This free event, intended to bring communities together and allow people to interact casually with police and other first responders, was held from 5:30 to 7:30 behind the Windsor Police Station.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to push out information on crime prevention,” said Windsor Police Chief R.D. “Dan” Riddle. “Identity theft and fraud are huge issues these days, so we have info on how to protect yourself.”
The event included free hot dogs, chips and drinks, a bounce house and slide for children, and the opportunity for children and adults to look inside various first responder vehicles.
In addition to the Windsor Police Department, participating first responder agencies included Windsor’s volunteer fire department and rescue squad, the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police and others.
