FRANKLIN — David C. Blythe Jr., 74, passed away on June 1, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on June 20, 1942, as the eldest son of the late D.C. and Marie Blythe.
After serving his country during the Vietnam War, David returned to Franklin and worked at his father’s automobile dealership, Blythe Dodge in Franklin.
After leaving Blythe Dodge, David went to work at Franklin Equipment Company where he was the plant manager for 32 years.
A gentle giant, David will be remembered as a strong man with a generous heart and compassionate spirit.
He loved gardening, Nascar racing and telling stories of the past that delighted all his listeners.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his sister, Jean Outland; his nephew, Matthew Blythe; a sister-in-law, Shelby Gray; and a brother-in-law, Andrew Sipiczky.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Phyllis G. Blythe; his brothers, Mike and wife, Bonnie, of Smithfield; and Bruce and wife, Renee, of Courtland; sister-in-law, Joyce Sipiczky; brother-in-law, R.L. Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
The memorial service with military honors will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 5, in Wright Funeral Home with the Pastor Randy Wright officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
