The Isle of Wight County School system has announced that all public schools will dismiss early today because of the potential for flooded roadways this afternoon. The statement came from spokeswoman Kenita Bowers.

Both high schools and middle schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m., and elementary schools will dismiss at 1 p.m.

The YMCA and IOW Parks & Recreation will be at the elementary schools as scheduled until parents are able to pick up their children. Parents are asked to stay tuned to Connect 5, the division website and all local media outlets for the most up-to-date information regarding closings and delays.

“The safety of our students remains our number one priority,” Bowers stated.
