Isle of Wight Academy hung around until late in its game Friday at Broadwater Academy, but fell behind late in the contest, losing 56-42. The Vikings only led by two points, 17-15, at the end of the first quarter.

Eight second-quarter points by Seamus Cooney helped Broadwater take a 30-22 halftime lead. Teammate Taylor Major also had eight points in the third quarter as Broadwater took a 45-34 lead into the fourth quarter. The Vikings were without the services of leading scorer Keegan Czesak, who did not play because of an academic infraction.

Broadwater got to the foul line at an efficient rate thanks to eight second-half fouls by Isle of Wight. But they made none of their seven free-throw attempts in that half, compounding an 0-for-6 effort from the line in the first half. The Chargers, however, were perfect in seven trips to the line in the game. Isle of Wight was led by Bryce Casey’s 22 points. The Chargers dropped to 4-20, 2-13 in the Metro Athletic Conference. Major had 17 points; Tyler Major had 11 points.
