CAPRON—Mr. and Mrs. Billy Glen Sutton of Capron announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie Lynn Sutton, to Kevin Michael Lackey.
Kevin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Michael Lackey of Franklin.
The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Kirkland, who lived in Capron, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Sutton, who lived in Courtland.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of Nancy E. Williams of Suffolk, and the late Gray B. Williams, who lived in Vance, South Carolina, and the late Ruth O. Lackey, who lived in Richmond, and the late Robert M. Lackey, who lived in Newport News.
Miss Sutton graduated from Southampton Academy in 1998, and received a B.A. in communication studies and a minor in English from Christopher Newport University in 2002. Katie is employed full-time with Ashland Water Technologies in Franklin, and part-time with 97.3 The Eagle in Virginia Beach.
Mr. Lackey graduated from Franklin High School in 1996, and received an Associate degree in welding from Paul D. Camp Community College in 1998. Kevin is plant manager of Parker Oil Company in Franklin.
An October wedding is planned.
