Mr. Steven W. Ivey and Mrs. Lynn J. Ivey of Zuni are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Barbara Kristen Ivey, to Jason Floyd Brinkley, son of Mr. Clifton C. Brinkley and Mrs. Sandra B. Brinkley of Zuni.

The bride-to-be is the maternal granddaughter of Mrs. Barbara W. Joyner of Burdette; the late Mr. Edwin J. Joyner and the late Mrs. Barbara B. Joyner, both formerly of Burdette.

She is also the paternal granddaughter of the late Mr. George Ivey Jr., formerly of Independence.

The groom-to-be is the maternal grandson of Mr. James E. Bryant of Zuni, and the late Mrs. Carolyn W. Bryant.

He is also the paternal grandson of the late Mr. William L Brinkley and the late Mrs. Marjorie B. Copeland, both formerly of Suffolk.

The bride-to-be graduated from Franklin High School in 2005; and received a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in health sciences from James Madison University in 2008. She then continued her education to receive an associate degree in nursing in 2011.

She is employed as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

The groom-to-be graduated from Franklin High School in 1999. He then continued his education at the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy in 2007.

He serves as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Isle of Wight County Sheriffs Office.

A September 2014 wedding is planned on the shores of Lake Gaston in Henrico, North Carolina.
