FRANKLIN—Mr. Russell S. Drake Jr. of Newsoms and Ms. Gail S. Drake of Courtland announce the engagement of their daughter, Carrie Gail Drake, to Glenn Babb Rawlings Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn B. Rawlings of Franklin.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Swecker, formerly of Harrisonburg; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell S. Drake, formerly of Newsoms.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Petty, formerly of Petersburg; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Rawlings Jr., formerly of Courtland.

The bride graduated from Southampton Academy in 2001, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Radford University in 2006.

She continued her education receiving an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing from Paul D. Camp Community College in 2008, then a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011. She is employed as a registered nurse in Hollywood, Fla.

The groom is a 2003 graduate of Virginia Episcopal School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Babb is a licensed yacht broker and real estate agent specializing in waterfront property in South Florida.

The couple lives in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The June 2014 wedding is planned to take place in Franklin.
