Firefighters from Courtland and Hunterdale attend the scene of an overturned truck in the median at the intersection of eastbound 58 and Agripark Drive in Courtland. Virginia State Police got the call at 2:10 p.m. Thursday.

According to Sgt. A. Williams, the truck driver apparently lost control of his vehicle to avoid hitting another vehicle in front of him. The truck – belonging to Van Cleef Trucking Co., Waverly – tipped over, spilling woodchips and sawdust into the median. The only person hurt was the truck driver, who reportedly had only a small head injury.

The investigation was in progress, and Williams could not say if charges would be filed. He hoped the truck and its contents would be towed away and cleaned up within 30 to 45 minutes. The Southampton County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia Department of Transportation also helped at the accident.
