Bank robbery suspects arrested

FRANKLIN—Two individuals have been arrested in connection with Friday’s armed robbery of SunTrust Bank in downtown Franklin. Shane Irvin Bradshaw, 26, of Courtland and Phillip Louis Doughtie, 23, of Franklin were arrested and taken into custody. Both were remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail where they are being held without bond.

Bradshaw faces charges including armed bank robbery, possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, wearing a mask in public, grand larceny, conspire with another to commit bank robbery and 13 counts of abduction.

Charges against Doughtie include armed bank robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, wearing a mask in public, grand larceny, conspire with another to commit bank robbery, solicitation to commit bank robbery and 13 counts of abduction.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Virginia State Police and the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation and apprehension of the suspects.
