Several Chargers football players make all-conference team

ISLE OF WIGHT—The Isle of Wight Chargers football team had 9 first-team nods and many others received second-team and honorable mention recognition from the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.

Gage Rogers led the way, as he was named the all-conference Offensive Player of the Year.

First-team offense honors were: Brandon Saxby, senior, quarterback; Gage Rogers, senior, wide receiver; Christian Pittman, senior, tight end; and Corey Holleman, senior, offensive line.

First-team defense honors were: Christian Pittman, senior, defensive line; Josh Weihe, junior, linebacker; and Gage Rogers; senior, defensive back.

First-team special team honors were: Gage Rogers, senior, kick returner and punt returner.

Second team honors were: Josh Weihe, junior, running back; Jacob Wait, junior, defensive line; Corey Holleman, senior, linebacker; Alec Edwards, sophomore, linebacker; Aaron Fronfelter, junior, defensive back; and Brandon Saxby, senior, punter.

Honorable mentions were: Aaron Fronfelter, junior, wide receiver; and Carson Robertson, junior, linebacker.

“I am very proud of all the young men who have made the Virginia Commonwealth Conference All Conference team,” said head coach Dale Chapman.

“I am especially proud of the young men from Isle of Wight Academy who have worked so hard this season and were recognized by the conference as being talented players.”
