ISLE OF WIGHT—Head coach Dale Chapman was happy to see the Chargers come out quick Friday night.

“I was worried because we had been starting off games slow,” Chapman said. “Tonight, the kids were excited and fired up. We did what we were supposed to do.

“The offense was playing like it was supposed to. At one point, we scored 2 touchdowns in 8 plays. That was pretty good. I was happy that we came out and played tough early. We didn’t wait for the second half.”

Chapman said it was good to give the second-string team a chance to play in the second half.

“We played a bunch of second team guys. So they got to get a feel for the speed of the game. I was happy to get the younger guys out there to get some experience, and I’m sure they were happy to play. It was a big night. It was a good night for the Chargers.”

With about 11 minutes to go in the first quarter, Isle of Wight quarterback Brandon Saxby completed a 74-yard pass to Christian Pittman for a score. A good PAT brought the score to 7-0.

With about 8 minutes to go in the first quarter, Saxby completed a 40-yard pass to Josh Weihe for a touchdown. The PAT was missed.

With about 4 minutes to go, Gage Rogers had a rushing touchdown, and after a successful PAT, the score was 20-0.

With 7 minutes left to go in the half, Saxby completed a 30-yard pass to Pittman. The PAT was missed.

With 5 minutes to go, Rogers returned an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown. After a successful PAT, the score was 32-0, and that was the score at the half.

With about 9 minutes to go in the third quarter, Rogers scored on a 58-yard run. The PAT was the final score of the night for the Chargers, making the score 39-0.

At this point, the second team came in, and with 5 minutes to go in the third quarter, the Vikings were successful on a touchdown run and a two-point conversion. The next score came with 2 minutes to go in the third quarter, and that two point conversion was also successful. The score was 39-16.

With 3 minutes to go in the game, Colton Lynch, the Vikings leading rusher, scored on a 19-yard run. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful, and the final score was 39-22.
