Jim White and Velvet Uzzell, along with their families, announce their engagement.

Jim is the son of the late Lee Moorman White Sr. and Mary Dansey White.

He has two children, Kayla White, a junior at the University of Virginia, and Jim White Jr., a rising senior at Southampton High School.

Velvet is the daughter of Raymond and Peggy Davis Sr. of Courtland.

She has one daughter, Amber Rae Alcaraz, a real estate agent in Virginia Beach.

A fall wedding is planned.

Following their honeymoon, the couple will reside in Franklin.
