ISLE OF WIGHT—The Tidewater Academy baseball team lost their season opener 8-4 to Isle of Wight Academy Friday.

“(IWA) was a better ball club that day,” said TA Coach Paul Rogers. “We walked several batters and made an error or two, typical for a first game.”

Tidewater allowed all eight runs in the first three innings, three in the 1st, four in the second, and one in the third.

“After that the team calmed down and got focused,” Rogers said.

Warrior Daniel Mcckinney had six strikeouts in three innings a five-inning game. While freshman Trevor Daughtrey went two-for-two from the plate with a run in the 4th.

“We didn’t get the hits when we needed them,” Rogers said.

The Warriors will host Kenston Forest at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in Wakefield; while the Chargers will travel to Greenbrier Christian Academy at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
